May 3rd, 2010Sakaguchi Benjamin Akeala Belew. That’s a mouthful, I know.
An artist and musician born in 1982, my father is American and my mother is Japanese. I use oil to paint and the piano to create art work.
I always (almost) work from life, studying the actual subject in front of my eyes and never photographs (unless you make me) when I paint, and specialize mostly in portraits and figurative works.
I play and compose music in the classical style, while trying to incorporate modern elements into it.
My greatest influences and teachers are Ludwig Van Beethoven and John Singer Sargent.

１９８２年生まれで、アメリカ人の父と日本人の母を持つ、油彩とピアノで作品をつくる絵描きで音楽家。絵を描く時は絶対に実物を見て描き、写真は一切使わないことを通し、肖像画や人物画を中心に制作。音楽はクラシックというスタイルを保持しながら現代の要素を入れ込んで新しいものを模索して、作曲や演奏を行っている。自分にとっての一番の影響と師として尊敬している人物はルードヴィッヒ・ヴァン・ベートーベンと、ジョン・シンガー・サージェント。

Benji, my husband married your parents, I coached your Mom through her pregancy while your Dad was at sea. Fortuantely he came home just hours before you were born!!!!!!! I held you in church and enjoyed you so much.
So happy to know that God has given you great talents. Use them for the Lord always.

Ben, wonderful performance on 11/13/11. Nocturne “Moonbemas” and Interlude “Intermezzo” brought tears to my eyes. 素晴らしい演奏有難うございました。又その内会いましょう。 Hope to meetup with you again soon.
